Distilleries in Edinburgh & the Lothians

Edinburgh and Leith have a group of gin and whisky distilleries within a short distance of the city centre, several of them built with visitor areas from the start. Established gin producers such as Edinburgh Gin and Pickering's sit alongside newer single-malt distilleries at Holyrood and the Port of Leith.

  • Several gin and whisky distilleries within walking or short bus distance of each other
  • Two distilleries in Leith: the Port of Leith whisky distillery and Lind & Lime gin
  • Gin-making experiences at Edinburgh Gin
  • Easy to combine two or three distillery visits in one day

Planning a visit

Several Edinburgh gin and whisky distilleries run regular tours and tastings, so two or three visits fit into one day. Leith has two distilleries within walking distance of each other. Edinburgh Gin runs gin-making experiences as well as its Classic tour; Pickering's runs tours, cocktail sessions and food pairings. Book ahead: Edinburgh Gin's Classic tour is 18+ and needs advance booking.
