Glasgow offers whisky visits at Clydeside and Glasgow Distillery, plus gin-making at Crossbill. Auchentoshan and Glengoyne provide further options outside the city. Loch Lomond's whisky production site does not offer tours; its visitor alternative is Luss Distillery.

Planning a visit
For a short city stay, we suggest Clydeside's one-hour tour at £19.50, with time for the 30-minute walk from the centre described by the distillery. Glasgow Distillery's longer, seven-sample experience is better suited to someone who wants a substantial whisky tasting. Choose one main visit if also travelling out to Glengoyne, which gives a 40-minute drive from Glasgow and an X10 bus connection. Luss gives directions by train to Balloch followed by the 305 bus. Crossbill's distilling class takes three hours, so we would allow it a separate half-day. If working stills are your main reason to pay for a tour, take account of the current pauses at Clydeside and Auchentoshan.
