Planning a visit
We suggest two booked experiences a day, using Kirkwall for the Highland Park, Scapa and Orkney Distilling part of the trip. Give Deerness its own appointment rather than treating it as an unscheduled stop: tastings are listed on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Highland Park's 75-minute Welcome experience costs £30. Deerness lists a gin tasting at £20 and a whisky tasting at £30. Choose Deerness if a guided tasting interests you, but do not book it expecting a promised walk through every production stage. Its whisky experience includes new-make spirit, which should not be confused with mature Deerness whisky. Confirm your travel to Orkney before fixing non-refundable appointments.
